PeopleStuff — Human Resources and Payroll Survey

Thanks to everyone who has filled out our Human Resources and Payroll survey on how you manage your company's staffing. We've had a nice mix so far of our commercial customers, users of our free and open source ERP version PostBooks®, and more than a few people who aren't either but are testing the software. (Hopefully, they're planning to join the xTuple customer community soon!)

You can probably guess why we're asking about this — we'd like to better understand what everyone would like to see in xTuple ERP future development in the area of HR and Payroll. We've built several good integrations with open source products such as TimeTrex and OrangeHRM — and there are any number of ways to integrate with outsourced payroll providers such as ADP and Paychex.

xTuple is currently working on another integration with a company called TriNet. TriNet is what's known as a professional employment organization (PEO) — they manage not just payroll and taxes, but all of your employee benefits as well. This is particularly attractive when you have employees all over the U.S. (and elsewhere, all over the globe!) We are TriNet customers ourselves and have been for many years.

We continue to be very interested in your thoughts on HR and Payroll — and if you haven't filled out the survey yet, make sure you do so before the end of this month (September 30th), because that's the cutoff date to be entered in our drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card! That's our little way of saying thank you for helping us do a little market research.

Check out the (brief!) survey here. And thank you! We'll notify the gift card winner the week of October 2.

Disclaimer: Your survey submission earns you eligibility to win an Amazon Gift Card valued at $100. One entry per person. One winner will be chosen at random per quarter.

Ned Lilly

President and CEO

In October 2001, Ned co-founded xTuple, originally called OpenMFG, with the aim of bringing the worlds of open platform software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) together to solve the unmet needs of small- to mid-sized manufacturers. In 1999, he was a co-founder of Great Bridge, an early business built around the PostgreSQL database which is also the core technology for xTuple today. Great Bridge was incubated inside Landmark Communications, a mid-sized media company where Ned directed corporate venture investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and startup activity. Prior to Landmark, Ned worked for a regional technology group in Washington D.C. and had a brief first career in political media — television, radio and a non-partisan news wire. He holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.A. from George Washington University.
