xTupler #42 — St. Patrick's Day Lucky Licenses

xTupler #42  |  March 2016

Dear Community —

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's one of the most popular celebrations worldwide, and here at xTuple, we're getting in the spirit too. In this issue, we're profiling a terrific (Canadian) customer who just happens to be called St. Patrick's Cabinet Making, a fantastic community member named Patty Davis, and updates on xTuple professional services from the fellow who runs it (who just happens to be named Jim McCluskey).

And did I mention the Lucky Licenses promotion? If you've ever sorted through a field of three-leaf clovers looking for that rare shamrock, then you'll like this one — buy 3, get 1 free!

Finally, an update from product development: (click "MORE" below for the rest of the story, including a major new update...)

Where's Wally? Showcasing Manufacturers

Revisiting the company's "metal" roots, xTuple vice president of sales, Wally Tonra, attended the 2016 Annual Meeting of Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International®, the premier organization advocating for the growth and sustainability of the North American metal processing, forming, and fabricating industries.

Trending topic? According to the National Association of Manufacturers, manufacturers contribute $2.17 trillion to the U.S. economy. For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.40 is added, the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector. xTuple offers a complete — and scalable — software solution for manufacturers whether their business represents a hybrid process juggling fabrication, complete assembly, in-house product lines, and/or contract work; an OEM manufacturer; or a Job Shop.

Customer Conversations: St. Patrick’s Cabinet Making
Furniture & Furnishings Manufacturers build with xTuple

Original sponsor of xTuple Project Accounting

More than two decades ago, Ronald Amyotte delved into the field of architectural and commercial woodworking, indulging his passion for contemporary design. Ébénisterie St-Patrick (ESP) was launched, and his target market was the dynamic retail industry.

From ESP's first shop in an industrial loft in downtown Montréal to their current sprawling 75,000 square foot facility in Laval, ESP has become one of the leading Canadian manufacturers of premium-quality boutique store fixtures, millwork and architectural woodworking. They offer turnkey solutions to clients, managing and delivering projects around the globe.

ESP's streamlined production process and commitment to innovation has given them the flexibility to support a vastly diversified customer base, far beyond their original retail clients.

They were an original sponsor and co-developer of the Project Accounting functionality, which is available as an add-on package, or included with xTuple Enterprise.

Customer Conversations: Whitney Equipment Co.
Moving from Windows to Mac, we found xTuple

Whitney Equipment Company, Inc., established in 1971, covers a wide swath of the American Northwest (states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska) delivering water and wastewater treatment equipment for both municipal and industrial applications.

Patty Davis, controller for eight years, initially contacted xTuple in 2010. She was investigating enterprise systems to accommodate the company's move from Windows desktops to Apple products in order to dramatically reduce their down time from invasive and destructive malware/viruses. Five years post-implementation — with 30 Apple computers — their experience is still "very positive." Patty is a valued, and vocal, xTuple customer advocate. When she's not busy balancing the books at work, she enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her beloved horses Fantasy and Nuance. She occasionally writes for the Morgan Horse Club of Washington State newsletter, not to mention her many talents related to sewing and clothing construction.

“I did NOT want to attend the xTuple ERP introductory course. I have 20 years of ERP experience in several packages and within several industries. I didn't think that an 'introduction' class was going to teach me anything new. I held my nose and kept an open mind, and after the first few hours, I was glad I had come. The course turned out to be a good investment, even for someone with my experience. The instructor led us at an easy pace through lecture, demonstration, and hands on configuration of the xTuple ERP application. By the last day we 'opened' our practice companies for business and were able to completely understand how the data flows through the business model."
— Shane Steinkamp, The Carpenter Company
