Pittsburgh Technology Council co-hosts xTuple Open Source ERP Roadshow

xTuple’s local and traveling business team co-hosted a half-day technology event on November 10, 2017 — the xTuple Roadshow — featuring case studies presented by Pittsburgh-based ASSET STEM Education™ and RedCranial, a Mac OS-focused consultancy.

xTuple open source ERP ended their 2017 series of on-the-road events at the Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC), the largest regional tech trade association in the nation. The open-forum discussion focused on digital marketing strategies for manufacturers using next generation business management software, including xTupleCommerce, the online Customer Web Portal.

PTC’s Jonathan Kersting, VP communications and media, and co-host intellectual property attorney Craig Waller of WebbLaw®, interviewed xTuple team members prior to the event for TECHVibe Radio. Part of PGH TechFuse, the media hub for the tech organization, the radio show airs every Friday night and is available online to bring the latest technology and entrepreneurial news to the Pittsburgh metro area.

Kersting (pictured left) and Waller were joined in the studio by PTC member Rebecca Shapiro (pictured right), xTuple senior consultant for software implementations, and calling in from sunny San Diego, Calif., was Wally Tonra, xTuple vice president of sales.

When asked who should attend xTuple Roadshows, Tonra responded, “Literally any small- and medium-size inventory-centric manufacturer — those companies making products and selling to their end users — the manufacturing backbone of any economy, local, regional or global.”

Case studies were presented at the roadshow to educate manufacturing companies on new digital technologies, such as a Customer Web Portal, as part of their marketing strategy to not merely sell products but to deliver 24/7/365 customer service to their end users and prospects.

Other roadshow locations in 2017 included Southern California, Houston, Chicago and xTuple’s Norfolk, Va., headquarters for the National Association of Manufacturers’ Manufacturing Day℠.

Case Study 1: Selected xTuple ERP for Mac — after comparing Epicor, MYOB, Infor, Openbravo and NetSuite

Five years ago, Tim Collins was the information technology manager at Good-Lite Company and looking for a solution to his problem: hitting the proverbial “brick wall” of technology. The company badly needed to replace their outdated business system which they had outgrown.

While searching online for new cost-effective enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for their Mac operating business environment, Collins found open source ERP xTuple. When he asked his local Apple store for advice, the business development team also recommended xTuple. He was able to test a full version of xTuple open source business software before committing his company’s financial and IT resources “unlike the other commercial vendors,” said Collins.

Collins now shares his xTuple expertise with others via his own consulting company, RedCranial.

Case Study 2: Delighted customers and improved processes with B2B Customer Web Portal

According to Christian Micah, director of business technology at ASSET STEM Education™, using xTuple ERP with the xTupleCommerce Web Portal helped his company serve customers better with one centralized system for purchasing materials, registering for professional development training and events, and more — while improving internal processes for marketing their products and services. Easy to use for staff, lots of positive customer feedback, and improved delivery of services has led to positive growth for ASSET using xTuple's open source ERP business software solutions.

2018 Roadshow Details

Drawing on the success of the 2017 xTuple Roadshows and driven by customer demand, the company is planning events for 2018. Pre-registration is available for 2018 locations now, and updates will be made as new venues and dates are confirmed. Pre-register for 2018 xTuple Roadshows.

Submissions to attend are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating is limited. Event times vary by location. The first 20 people who register are entered in a drawing for an iPad mini to be given away at each event.

Attendees will also qualify for a complimentary premier on-site consulting service — a business review and analysis of work processes and an evaluation of best-in-class industry practices and technology use.
